Coffee Cake Class – September 13

The 37th Annual Wendish Fest is right around the corner and we want you to enter our coffee cake bake-off competition! The museum is offering a baking class on Saturday, September 13, which is $30 per group of 2 people. Children are encouraged to attend as we also have a coffee cake bake-off contest for the youth! Wendish Fest Coffee Cake Bake-Off Rules:

  1. There is no entry fee.
  2. Entries must be received at the Dessert Booth at the Serbin picnic grounds no later than 10:30 a.m. on September 28, 2025.
  3. A 5-inch square piece of each entry will be used for judging. The remainder will be sold at the dessert stand.
  4. Entries will be judged in one of four categories: (1) Käsekuchen, (2) Streuselkuchen, (3) Special, and (4) Youth. The “Youth” category is limited to participants 14 years of age and younger.
  5. All entries must be made from yeast-raised dough.
  6. Entries in the “Käsekuchen” and “Streuselkuchen” categories should be baked in a pan no smaller than 9”x13”. The entries may be delivered in baking pans or on disposable cake boards.
  7. Entries in the “Special” category must be a full recipe. Any shape pan may be used (Bundt, angel food, 9”x13” sheet pan, etc.). The “Special” category may include cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes with fruit or nut toppings, etc.
