New Executive Director

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society and Museum would like to introduce our new Executive Director, Katy Kasper. Katy was previously a docent at the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum. She may not be Wendish, but was lucky enough to marry into a Texas Wendish family. Her husband, Shea Kasper, is a sixth generation Texas Wend whose ancestors arrived in Texas on the Ben Nevis. The Wendish culture and heritage really intrigued Katy and she continues to enjoy learning about her family’s heritage through the society, museum, and community. Katy is very excited to further her learning and celebration of Wendish heritage in numerous ways, including the upcoming annual Wendish Fest on September 22, 2024!

When Katy is not at the museum, she spends time raising three daughters on the family farm in Warda with her husband. Her family enjoys giving back to the community in many ways including FFA and 4-H which tends to have her traveling around the state with animals in tow. Katy’s Wendish family is always looking forward to the next local fundraiser for some fresh noodles!
