In and Around the Museum
As the task of digitally archiving the museum’s holdings continues, other projects are in varying stages of completion, have recently begun, or continue on a regular basis.
Work began in early January to build and install the new interactive display in the Peter Building. Red Arldt built and installed the shelving, cabinets and surround for the electrical components and flat screen display, and work is almost complete on setting up the computer tablet, installing the digital files and making all the components “talk” to each other so the digital files can be viewed on the large flat screen. Funding for the cabinetry and equipment was generously provided by a grant from the Texas Historical Foundation.
Apryle Kappler, our student intern, is working on a massive filing project that has kept her busy filing obituaries and other pieces of information into our library files. Apryle, who is currently enrolled at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, spends Fridays and many weekend days at the museum, and has become one of our favorite docents.
A project that continues thanks to Hattie Schautschick and her “Noodle Crew” is the work of cranking out the noodles! Two “Future Noodlers” – Kassi & Kalisa Oltmann – recently joined the noodle crew for a lesson in the fine art of “noodle fluffing”.
