My grandfather (father´s side) stems from a small village called Köbeln near Bad Muskau (Upper Sorbia). By now I know for sure that my surname is Sorbian (i.e. Wendish as you call it).
I am not quite sure, but someone with that surname must have arrived with the group in 1854 in Texas or even earlier (1850 ?). I have seen Prussian emigration records. Of course it could be that the family had another destination than Texas (I don´t think they headed for Australia).

The Domowina sent me two copies of Die Oberlausizt im zweiten Weltkrieg (Upper Lusatia in World War II) by Michael Richter. I have no use for it, but I can’t think of a better place to house them than the TWHS library in Serbin. Would you be interested in having them as a research tool for someone?

I was wondering if you guys do field trips? Our homeschool group is always looking to learn about the history around them. I’m guessing we would have anywhere from 10-25 kids sign up to attend.
