Museum Reopened for Normal Hours

UPDATE: As of August 1st, we will be open for our normal hours again (Tuesday-Saturday, 1-5pm). Please considering calling ahead if you have a group of 10 or more.

We are excited to announce that we will cautiously reopen the museum beginning Tuesday, June 2nd with measures in place to ensure the health and safety as best we can of our visitors, volunteers and staff.

Governor Greg Abbott allowed Texas museums to reopen beginning May 1st as long as museums put into practice policies that are consistent with social distancing recommendations from the CDC. Since many of our visitors come from out of town and our community hasn’t seen a large number of cases we felt it prudent to err on the side of caution in our plan to reopen.

What You Can Expect:

We will have slightly limited hours. We will be open only Tuesday- Friday 1-5. An announcement will be made when we reopen on Saturdays.

We will limit the number of people per party and the number of people in each building. Please limit your party to 8 or fewer (or call ahead if you will have more). The state has asked that we limit the number of guests to 25% of capacity and we intend to ensure that you have enough space to distance yourself from other visitors. Don’t let that keep you away; remember we are a museum complex with multiple buildings.

We ask that you help us by following a few simple protocols, as directed by the state. Please sanitize (or wash) your hands upon entering, avoid coming if you have any symptoms of illness (especially a fever within 24 hours), and we (and the county judge) ask that you wear a mask in the buildings.

We will sanitize everything that visitors and staff touch between visitors and also upon opening and closing the museum. We will also sanitize the bathrooms as often as possible.

We’re so excited to open our doors again, and we can’t wait to see y’all!
