Freddie Zoch of Warda, Texas

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society has been blessed throughout the years with many volunteers. Among those who willingly give of their time to help with our museum and many other important chores are some who continue to go above and beyond in their dedication to help us preserve and share Wendish history and heritage.

In this newsletter we wish to feature one of our volunteers who has been with us since our beginning. This volunteer is always a gentleman and is willing to do what needs to be done. Whether it’s helping cook noodles, sell tickets, prepare for Wendish Fest, be a Wendish worker, clean up after Wendish Fest, distribute posters and brochures, or help in our heritage garden, Freddie Zoch of Warda, Texas, has been there for TWHS for many years. It would be interesting to know the actual number of hours Freddie has given. Freddie is very proud of his Wendish history and heritage and is always ready to dress the part of his Wendish forefathers in his red vest, black pants, white shirt and straw hat.

Folks enjoy visiting with him and hearing about his life. Oh, we almost forgot to mention one of the “sweetest” things we can always count on Freddie for – Hershey’s Kisses – Freddie makes sure there are always some on hand at the museum for the other volunteers!

THANK YOU FREDDIE – YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
