Note from the Executive Director

Blessings to y’all for 2017! We are starting off to another great year here at the museum. Typically visitation is down during the holidays but we have enjoyed a steady stream of folks coming to see what we are all about. Part of this attention is coming from publications such a feature in a Sunday Houston Chronicle entitled “Meet Wendish relics like Rumplich, a terrifying spin on Santa“. The feature included the story of Rumplich as a Wendish tradition, our museum and numerous photos taken by the writer during his visit. The following day – Monday – visitors began arriving by 10 am – even though we were closed! Of course, we did not disappoint them and helped them tour the complex and St. Paul Church. Other articles in the Central Texas area featured our 1850’s log structures on display and their history; the passengers of the Ben Nevis and their history; and the history of the Texas Wendish Heritage Society and Museum. In addition, we are the #1 thing to do (out of 11) in the Giddings area on TripAdvisor. We have many glowing reviews there.

Our Facebook presence is growing. According to Travis Urban – our social media development contact – we have 540+ “likes” on Facebook offering simple ways to advertise and get our name out. So take the time to “like us” on Facebook and increase our exposure! Thank you!
